She was the daughter of a Dutch businessman who had married him to a military officer, but she was 26 when she broke up and moved to Paris. There, to fill her stomach, she resorted to her beauty and performances and started dancing in a club. Her beauty and semi-nude dance soon became known throughout Europe. And in later years, she was called a perfect dancer. But after a few years, her beauty and wealth began to wane, and she became embroiled in some debts that led her to spy on France during World War II.

When the series began, Mata Hari thought of raising money from the French intelligence agencies and offered to spy on them. French authorities at one time suspected that she was working for the Germans. However, French agencies gave him several missions and he continued to monitor them in which he proved to be an enemy of France and a double agent and he was arrested.
