KARACHI: Police have arrested a four-member gang of highly educated accused in Karachi who were involved in car theft. The ringleader of the gang is Omar Shahbaz BS Accounts Finance.
According to details, AVLC police in an operation against an inter-provincial car theft group in Karachi arrested four accused and recovered six stolen cars and two pistols from the possession of the arrested accused.
SSP AVLC Bashir Brohi said that the ringleader of this gang is Omar Shahbaz who has done BS finance accounts from Iqra University.
Bashir Brohi said that the accused operate from Islamabad and steal cars from Karachi and sell them in Punjab, NWFP and Islamabad after tampering while vehicles are stolen from Islamabad and sold in KPK and Sindh.
The SSP AVLC said that the accused had revealed the theft of 20 vehicles from Karachi and more than a dozen vehicles from Islamabad.
Bashir Brohi said that the accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage. The arrested accused include Umar Shahbaz, Tanveer-ul-Haq, Haider Khan and Mansoor Malik.
Accused Tanveer-ul-Haq has set up a WhatsApp group to sell stolen vehicles, in which stolen vehicles are sold. The WhatsApp group also includes a showroom owner. Showroom owners are also involved in buying stolen cars.
