PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has said that the government’s briefing on Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA) suggests that preparations are complete.
Speaking on Geo News program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Ke Saath’, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that journalists’ organizations were also present with us in the Senate committee.
He further said that Fawad Chaudhry addressed the Senate committee and left. He did not listen to anyone else. The federal minister basically said that this was just an idea.
The PPP senator also said that Fawad Chaudhry also said that the PMDA would be made a law after consultation.
He said that from the briefing given to us, it seems that the government has prepared many things.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that it has come to light that there will be a fine of Rs 250 million, tribunals will be formed and the right of appeal will be in the Supreme Court.
He said that according to the brief, any channel and media outlet can be closed on the basis of notices. According to the media law, it seems that the government has completed the preparations.
The PPP senator said that the law has not come up, we will all resist together, the members of the committee are not satisfied with today’s proceedings, everyone thinks that it is a black law.
He said that everyone thought that this black law was to end the freedom of the media.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that Faisal Javed gave ample opportunity to the media organizations to present their position.
