According to media reports, the exercise took place during a large-scale five-day annual exercise in southern Pingtung County, Taiwan, on the assumption that Taiwan’s airports would be unusable due to Chinese attacks.

The Taiwanese military has set aside sections of five highways to be used as alternative runways in emergencies. Seen as a counter-attack capability.

On the other hand, China has increased the movement of naval ships and military aircraft around Taiwan as a clear campaign to increase pressure on Taiwan.
