Justice stresses imposing deterrent penalties on convicts and human traffickers

Maulana Siham Othman, UndersecretIG of the Ministry of Justice and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, confirmed the sentencing of convicts and traffickers to deterrent penalties in accordance with the Anti-Human Trafficking Law. This came when she chaired the meeting of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, today, in the presence of all members of the committee. The meeting reviewed a draft logical framework matrix to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations of the American Trafficking in Persons 2021 report. He also discussed the media plan, which aims to raise awareness of the dangers of human trafficking and introduce the laws related to the crime of human trafficking. The meeting discussed the budget of the National Committee for the year 2022 AD. The meeting also reviewed ways of joint cooperation within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between the National Committee and the British Partners Foundation for Governance, including the visit of the National Committee to some parallel committees in the region with the aim of identifying experiences and best practices in combating human trafficking.
